Dogwood Junior Regatta
April 24-25, 2020
Melton Lake, Oak Ridge, TN
697 Melton Lake Drive, Oak Ridge, TN 37830
Hotels:
Plan on booking a hotel room for Friday and Saturday nights in Oak Ridge or along I75 exit 373-376.
Parking:
Free street side parking. There is plenty, but there may be a long walk to the team tent.
VIP parking in the lot is $20 cash/exact change appreciated, and it will probably fill up.
Food: Food and drinks will be available throughout the day for the rowers. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided to the athletes. We will be purchasing the food in advance.
For families, there will be a some food trucks at the venue. You can bring your own food or drive out to get food. If you leave to get food, you will lose your street side parking space.
Plan on the athletes spending all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday at the venue.
All Athletes are expected to help unload and rig the boats early Saturday and stay to help load the boat trailer after the last race on Sunday.
Most club tents are stationed in the peninsula that juts out near the regatta building (which provides public washrooms and house their own Club equipment) which is close to the finish line. Thus your viewing will be that of watching our boats launch into the water and rowing out for the first few hundred meters of their trek to the starting line and then when they cross the finish line and exit the water.
Each club has a designated area for their team to set up an EZ up tent. The rowers hang out and eat there. Parents, families, and guests are most welcome to spend the day there and watch the races. However, please note that the tents are not water proof and thus please don’t expect that the tents will provide the best shelter. Rowers will be back and forth between the team tent, boat trailer and launch area. Rowers will need to be focused on their tasks, and there is quite a bit of congestion with the other team. Thus unless one is a rower or a coach, hanging out in the trailer area is discouraged and not permitted in the launch area.
Regatta Merchandise: Official regatta t-shirt will be available for purchase that day.
All Athletes are expected to stay and help load the boat trailer on Sunday afternoon.
